The EWB Summit and the EWB Award

The EWB Summit is a gathering of thought leaders, investors, academia, implementing partners and influencers to meet, network and discuss actual possibilities of doing good through the power of entrepreneurship and impact investing. 

The EWB Award is a recognition of a person or an organization that represents the Entrepreneurs Without Borders core values of sustainable entrepreneurship. The 2019 award ceremony is the inaugural event.

Clint Bartlett

Clint is the investment director of Transformational Business Network, an impact investor focused on East and Southern Africa, founded by a group of philanthropists driven by stewarding resources for future generations. Prior to joining TBN his career has covered various roles including advisor or manager to a variety of non-profit and for-profit entities focused on development in Sub-Saharan Africa. These have covered the areas of low-cost private education, healthcare pertaining to HIV AIDS, secondary schooling and post-school training, supply chain economic inclusion and financial innovation relating to blended funding.

Clint holds an undergraduate degree in accounting and an honours degree in finance. In 2015 he completed his MBA at the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business where he focused on Sustainable Supply Chain Management in an emerging market context. Thereafter he completed a Masters in Advanced Management degree at Yale University with a focus on impact investing, global strategy and political economy. In early 2019 Clint was awarded a Social Entrepreneurship fellowship at the Jacobs Foundation. He is research is focused on how impact investing can aid social enterprises in achieving the SDGs.

Tharald Nustad

Tharald Nustad is a Norwegian serial entrepreneur and investor in the tech sector.

He is the founder of Nordic Impact, a company that incubates and invests in social / environmental impact tech startups and impact funds. He is co-founder of Katapult Future Fest, an event focusing on technology, impact investing and the future society, and Katapult Accelerator, a leading accelerator for impact tech startups. Nordic impact is very active in the future of education, and how we can create the future we want to live in. Tharald is active in building the impact investing ecosystem in the Nordics, and is an active player in the startup scene. He works with Ashoka helping social entrepreneurs, is an active member of Toniic, a global impact investor network, and is co-chair for the impact investing group in Nexus. He also leads Mallin, a family office focusing on Impact real estate developments.

Alison Fort is Impact Partner at Katapult. She was previously the Toniic Managing Director, EMEA. Alison was Toniic acting CEO from December 2015 to July 2016 and led the writing of Toniic’s Millennials & Impact Investment report and co-authored the Toniic Venture Philanthropists and Impact Investors report.

Alison brings over a decade of experience in corporate finance and social finance. She joined Toniic after having led business development at the Social Stock Exchange in London. Alison was part of the team that launched the Social Stock Exchange in 2013 and was responsible for corporate member acquisition and relationship management. She developed the SSE community of investors; working with institutions, family offices, private banks and the retail investor.

Alison started her career in the Corporate Advisory team at Deutsche Bank and prior to joining the Social Stock Exchange, she was one of the founders of Four Elements Capital: a corporate finance advisory business working with entrepreneurs in environmental and social impact sectors. Alison holds a B.Sc. in Management (Accounting & Finance) from UMIST, Manchester University. She lives outside London with her husband, daughter, and son.
